- pidentd was written by Peter Eriksson of Linkoping University, Sweden,
- <pen@lysator.liu.se>, and is distributed with permission.
-
- This is a source + binary distribution of pidentd 2.6.1 with some local
- modifications. The modifications are clearly delineated and have been
- submitted to the author for inclusion in a future release. It was built
- by Bela Lubkin of SCO, <belal@sco.com>, on 95/07/30.
-
- Methods used:
-
- The file pidentd-2.6.1.tar.gz was obtained via ftp from
- <ftp://ftp.lysator.liu.se/pub/ident/servers> on 95/06/30.
- The tar file was extracted and built by typing `make sco32_5` on an
- SCO OpenServer Release 5 system. Some bugs were then observed and
- corrected. The source distributed in this directory contains these
- corrections. A file, SCO-PATCH, contains context diffs which could
- have been used to create this distribution from the original pidentd
- 2.6.1 distribution. Because the patch program is reversible, this
- also allows the original distribution to be created from the sources
- provided here.
-
- The patched sources were also copied to an SCO Open Server 3.0 system
- and compiled with `make sco32_42`.
-
- Installation:
-
- See the file INSTALL. On an SCO system, the binary might be installed
- as /etc/in.identd (or /etc/identd), setgid mem. It can then be run as
- user "nouser" from /etc/inetd.conf.
-
- A pre-nroff'd version of the man page is present as "identd.LOCAL".
